Kearny, Anneke

Anneke Kearny worked as a radiographer both locally and abroad until 1995 when she decided to use her hobby, photography, to earn an income. She assembled a portfolio and contacted anybody who had anything to do with photographs and publishing. Her first picture was published in a woman’s magazine in 1997, and since then her photographs have graced the pages of most local magazines. The Botanical Society used her photographs for their official calendar for 2002. The calendar was then continued annually as Flowers of South Africa, sold country wide and much sought after by locals and tourists alike. A Cats and Kittens calendar, first published in 2003, has also become a popular gift.

Anneke’s passion for indigenous plants developed gradually through spending many hours photographing them in Kirstenbosch and while hiking in the wild. In addition to spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors, studying and photographing wild flowers, she uses her own garden to experiment extensively with indigenous plants.
