Heather Laithwaite

Heather Laithwaite comes from a strong design background and went from running her own baby boutique to designing and making a gift range for a well-known international interior design company for 12 years.

She joined the Cape Embroiders Guild and learnt the art of embroidery, canvas work and lace making, which, in turn, triggered her interest in beadwork. This interest grew to the extent that she joined the British Beaders’ Guild. She loves playing with colour and texture and can explore both elements through beading and design. Heather has taught beading and canvas work all over the Cape for many years, and the ever-growing waiting list to join her classes is testimony to the infectious enthusiasm with which she shares her amazing talent and skill. Her first book, DARE TO BEAD, has reprinted several times both locally and abroad and won her international acclaim.
