Metz Press @ Hobby-X Midrand

After an incredibly successful expo in March, we simply couldn't miss Hobby-X Midrand. We've been cooking up some lovely new books, one in particular ...

Our main feature at Hobby-X will be our 2013 Crafter’s daily planner, not only does it have the stock standard page-a-day diary features, but also a step-by-step craft project for every month, monthly competitions with amazing prizes and over R11500 worth of vouchers and discounts from our partners. Last but not least, we included a comprehensive list of all the crafts suppliers we could find, organized geographically with a list of online stores as well!

And although we’ll be able to keep you enthralled with our selection of books for quite some time, with over 130 exhibitors, there’s plenty more to do. Browse, buy, watch demo’s or take part in the fun workshops. We even took some readers along to the Johannesburg Hobby-X - needles to say, they had a blast! (Read below what they had to say about their experience.)

This time round, you can stand a chance to win two tickets to any day of Hobby-X Midrand. Simply tell us what craft book you think we should do next. Comment below this blog, and remember to post it to Facebook. You may just see your book idea on our shelf at the next Hobby-X!

Last year, one lucky Metz Press fan and craft fanatic, Robyn Harman, won the opportunity to experience a weekend with Metz Press and Leisure Books at Hobby-X expo in Johannesburg. Here’s what she had to say about her weekend breakaway:

I was over the moon when I heard that I had won the Metz Press Hobby-X experience. What made it even more special, was the fact that it was the weekend of my birthday. The Metz Press team were unbelievable; they were very friendly and immediately made us feel welcome and at home.
We took part in almost every craft class we could fit into our schedule, and, of course, bought so much that we couldn’t carry anything any more. We literally had to smuggle the evidence home because we simply couldn’t resist buying everything that caught our eye.
Friday evening we had dinner with Wilsia, the publisher of Metz press, and a few of her craft authors. The atmosphere was brilliant and everyone was relaxed and so down to earth. It was a great honour to be present for the moment that Wilsia announced that Contemporary Dyecraft would be published in Russian and the rights sold to a Russian publisher. Melanie, the author, was blown away and left speechless with gratitude and awe. It was a wonderful moment and my heart skipped an extra beat just for her.
It was such a privilege and honour to have met each and every one of the authors and to have had personal conversations with them. Thank you to Wilsia for her incredible hospitality. The weekend and the whole experience will stay with me forever. A special thank you also to Melanie who let us make our own personal dyecraft T-shirts; and to Tracy and Debbie for all the chats and the tips they shared. You’re both so humble, entertaining and down to earth; you make a great team. So from me and my best friend, Lizelle, who got to share the experience with me, a great big thanks to Metz Press, Leisure Books and Hobby X for making this dream come true.
